Couples
Every relationship experiences stress, disconnection, and conflict. Couples may seek therapy because communication has become tense, trust has been damaged, intimacy has changed, or the same arguments continue without resolution. Others begin counseling proactively to strengthen their relationship before challenges become more serious.
At Inner Peace Counseling of Utah, our providers offer compassionate, balanced support that respects each partner’s perspective while keeping the relationship at the center of treatment. Our therapists may incorporate principles from the Gottman Method, which helps couples improve communication, manage conflict, deepen friendship, and strengthen trust. Providers may also use Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT, to help partners understand the emotions and attachment needs beneath recurring patterns of criticism, defensiveness, withdrawal, or distance.
Couples therapy can help partners communicate more effectively, repair emotional injuries, rebuild connection, and develop healthier ways to navigate differences. Our providers tailor treatment to each couple’s history, values, concerns, and goals rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
In some situations, individual therapy for one or both partners may also be beneficial. With appropriate boundaries and coordination, individual counseling can address trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, emotional regulation, or personal patterns that affect the relationship. Individual therapy is incorporated thoughtfully when it supports—rather than replaces—the goals of couples treatment.
Inner Peace Counseling of Utah offers couples and individual counseling at our Draper and Saratoga Springs locations, with telehealth appointments available throughout Utah.
