Betrayl Trauma
Betrayal by a spouse, partner, family member, or another trusted person can deeply disrupt a person’s sense of safety. Infidelity, secrecy, repeated dishonesty, pornography, hidden behaviors, or broken commitments may leave someone questioning what is true, whether they can trust their own judgment, and what the future of the relationship may hold.
Betrayal trauma can involve anxiety, intrusive thoughts, difficulty sleeping, anger, grief, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, and a strong need to search for answers or reassurance. These reactions are not signs of weakness. They may reflect the mind and body attempting to make sense of a painful rupture in trust.
At Inner Peace Counseling of Utah, our providers offer compassionate, nonjudgmental support for individuals and couples affected by betrayal. Therapy can help clients process painful emotions, restore a sense of stability, establish healthy boundaries, and make thoughtful decisions about healing and the future of the relationship.
Our therapists tailor treatment to each client’s needs and may incorporate trauma-informed approaches, relationship therapy, EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Internal Family Systems, or other evidence-based methods when appropriate.
Healing does not require rushing into forgiveness or immediately deciding whether to stay or leave. Our providers create a safe and supportive environment where clients can move forward at their own pace, rebuild trust in themselves, and begin creating greater clarity, confidence, and emotional security.
Inner Peace Counseling of Utah offers individual and couples counseling in Draper and Saratoga Springs, with telehealth appointments available throughout Utah.
