Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, can affect far more than a person’s thoughts and routines. Intrusive fears, repetitive behaviors, reassurance seeking, checking, avoidance, or rigid rituals can interfere with school, work, relationships, sleep, and daily life. Family members may also feel confused, exhausted, or unsure how to help.
At Inner Peace Counseling of Utah, our providers offer compassionate, individualized support for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing OCD symptoms. Therapy can help clients better understand the OCD cycle, reduce avoidance, strengthen coping skills, and respond differently to intrusive thoughts and urges.
Treatment may include evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention, commonly called ERP. These methods help clients gradually face feared situations while learning to resist compulsive responses in a safe and structured way.
Family support can also be an important part of treatment. Loved ones may unintentionally reinforce OCD by providing repeated reassurance, helping with rituals, or rearranging daily life around fears. Our therapists can help family members recognize these patterns, respond with greater confidence, and support progress without becoming part of the compulsive cycle.
Inner Peace Counseling of Utah provides counseling in Draper and Saratoga Springs, with telehealth appointments available throughout Utah. Our goal is to help individuals and families feel less controlled by OCD and more capable of moving forward together.
